Here at The White House Surgery, we welcome our doctors in training. These are fully qualified doctors and are a huge asset to our team.

Medical Students

We often have Medical Students with us who are training to be doctors.
We will inform you before going in to see a doctor if a student is sitting in with them. If you would like to see the GP without a medical student present just let reception know.

Non-urgent advice:

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

The Healthcare Assistants at the practice are able to offer services such as carrying out blood tests, doing blood pressure checks, and some injections.

Our administration team have many responsibilities including processing patients records and hospital correspondences, recalling patients for medical appointments and assisting the clinical and reception team in the day to day running of the practice.

Our Secretary assists the clinical team in organising hospital and secondary care referrals.

Non-urgent advice:

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Non-urgent advice: Clinical pharmacist

Pharmacists make a difference to the lives of their patients through an expert knowledge of medicines and health. Helping people live longer and healthier lives depends on the safe use of medicines and excellent healthcare advice. Pharmacists’ unique expertise and knowledge makes them essential members of the healthcare team.

Non-urgent advice: Paramedic

Our paramedics work as part of our urgent care team and carry out home visits under the supervision of our GPs.

Non-urgent advice: Care Co-ordinator

Our care co-ordinator works with patients to help support their health and wellbeing. Where needed she will also identify appropriate external services for individuals. In addition to this the care co-ordinator also liaises with patients within our quarterly patient participation group.
